Pre-Season Practice Times

Pre-season swim has begun. Practice will be held M/W/F from 3-4 until 9/18/09. Pre-senior and Senior groups will be chosen at that time. From 9/22/09 till season, practice will be from 2-3 for Pre-senior and 3-4 for Senior. The T/Th slot will be used starting 9/29 for the Senior group from 2-3.

Swim Team Captain's Chosen

Congratulations to Matt Sapien and Kim Tello on being voted for this year's captain's. Matt and Kim bring a great leadership quality to the team and have a combined six year's experience with the Covina High School Swim Team.

2010 Varsity Letter Policy

A Varsity letter can be earned by meeting the requirements listed below:

Workout Attendance: A swimmer will not be considered for a Varsity letter unless he/she attends 90% of all Varsity team workouts during the season.

Swim Meets: A swimmer must swim a minimum of four meets at the Varsity level. Swimmers must attend ALL Covina dual meets during the season.

Time Standard Points: Swimmers will be given time standard points for individual events available to each individual for the season. Points are awarded on the following basis:

Swim Grading Policy

Swimming is a physical education course. All swimmers will be given a grade every six weeks and a semester grade for swimming.

Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. If you are absent, for any reason, you are required to have that absence excused. If you are present at school, the expectation is that you are healthy enough to swim. Excessive homework, other extra-curricular activities, and lack of desire will not be acceptable reasons for missing swim. Failure to have an absence excused is a truancy. Two truancies and your grade is dropped a full level.
